Monday, September 17: Fort Washington National Park
Learn more about the extent of the invasion of exotic plants in the region’s parks and what’s being done to manage this critical issue. Plus plenty of plant identification practice!
Monday, October 29: Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens
Join the BTW staff and NPS experts to learn more about the quality of water in the region’s parks, based on chemical testing, and to explore the chemistry behind the parameters in Watershed Watchdogs.
Monday, February 25: Anacostia Park
We’ll spend the day Talkin’ Trash, learning more about the link between the trash issue and water quality, measures being taken by the region’s governments to combat it, and what your students can do to help out!
Wednesday, January 16: Rock Creek National Park
We’ll spend the day learning more about the ecology of the benthic environment – who eats whom? – and practicing our critter identification skills, including more ways to prepare your students for that daunting task!
Tuesday, April 1: C&O Canal National Historical Park
Come try out the brand new Olmsted Island module! Learn more about the fascinating bedrock terrace ecosystem and the way humans and floods have impacted this unique spot along the Potomac Gorge.
