Below, we have listed a number of resources to help you in designing, implementing and maintaining your environmental program. While each program’s individual resource needs may vary, we hope this list will help to ease your way and speed up your progress!

Resources in Your Community

  • Home improvement stores & garden centers: National chains (ex. Lowes, Home Depot, Southern States) and local centers (ex. Behnke Nurseries, Patuxent Nursery) are often great resources for building and landscaping materials.

  • Local Businesses can meet special needs for your projects (ex. Loiderman-Soltesz Landscape planning), provide funding (ex. Walmart, Target), refreshments (ex. local grocery stores and restaurants), and advertising, etc.

  • Concerned Community Members: Parents, neighbors and politicians (ex. Prince George's County Executive Jack Johnson) who are interested in the school's success are often willing and able to lend a hand.

Organizations & Agencies

  • Maryland Association for Environmental and Outdoor Education: MAEOE's mission is to encourage, train, and support Maryland educators to build a citizenry that understands and is responsibly engaged in promoting sustainability, addressing human needs and conserving the Earth's natural resources.

    MAEOE's Website provides information and resources on the Maryland Green Schools Program, the annual MAEOE conference, and other environmental programs in the area.

  • North American Association for Environmental Education: The North American Association for Environmental Education (NAAEE) is a network of professionals, students, and volunteers working in the field of environmental education throughout North America and in over 55 countries around the world.

    The NAAEE Website provides publications, conference information, EE resource reviews, guidelines and job information.

  • National Audubon Society: Audubon's mission is to conserve and restore natural ecosystems, focusing on birds, other wildlife, and their habitats for the benefit of humanity and the earth's biological diversity.
