Patuxent Elementary has sent a team of teachers to Hard Bargain Farm's Summer Environmental Science Institute since 2001. Teachers become "students", actively exploring HBF curriculum and field studies by participating in hands-on activities, models, and conducting in depth field study investigations amid diverse habitats on the farm and in nearby Piscataway Park. The institute is funded by Prince George's County Public Schools and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
