REI started with a group of 23 friends with a passion for mountain climbing and the outdoors. Since then it has grown into the largest consumer cooperative in the nation providing gear and education for outdoor recreation. REI goes beyond gear into stewardship. REI encourages nature conservation and supports organizations that join in that effort. REI is a relatively new partner to AFF but has become a vital supporter.
