Dear Friend,
We’re so excited you can join us as the Alice Ferguson Foundation celebrates 70 years of achievements in environmental education and sustainability! We’ve got a full schedule of exciting anniversary events, including our Annual Member Meeting (February 4), Potomac Cleanup & Open House (April 6), Pinot on the Potomac (September 21), National Public Lands Day Cleanup (September 28) and we’d love for you to take part!
As we celebrate 70 years, we’re grateful to everyone who’s supported the Foundation! Here’s what you’ve been part of achieving in the last seven decades:
- The Foundation helped seed the creation of Piscataway National Park with a gift of 85 acres.
- The Foundation has impacted the lives of over 1 million students through our curriculum and programs.
- The Foundation has led cleanups that removed 8.5 million pounds of waste from the Potomac River watershed.
- The Foundation’s commitment to leading in sustainability best practices is embodied in its Living Building, which was completed in 2016 as only the 13th project in the world to achieve the prestigious full Living Building Certification as well as the LEED Platinum Certification.
- The Foundation’s commitment to inclusivity in environmental education has resulted in the construction of an environmental campus with multiple fully accessible facilities: the Living Building, bunkhouses, wetlands boardwalk, and educational pavilion.
- The Foundation has trained over 3,000 teachers and park rangers to deliver high-quality, STEM-focused environmental education.
Thank you again for your support, and looking forward to seeing you at these incredible 70th Anniversary events as we head into the future invigorated!
Warmest regards,
Theresa Cullen
