The annual MAEOE (Maryland Association for Environmental and Outdoor Education) conference is a venue where environmental education professionals come to share their strategies, methods, and best practices with their colleagues. This year, the conference will be held from February 7-10, 2013 in Ocean City, MD.

1) Green Schools as Teaching Tools*

Date & Time: Friday, February 8, 2013; Afternoon Workshop (1:00 pm – 4:00 pm)
This workshop begins the conversation on how to use energy and water conservation features of new or planned “green” educational facilities as teaching tools that support positive environmental and human health outcomes, and addresses climate change and water quality protection. The Alice Ferguson Foundation’s new very high-performance “living building” education facility will use feedback technologies to create student, teacher, staff, and visitor experiences that inspire conservation behaviors, with the potential to decrease carbon emissions, and lower wastewater volume.

2) Trash Free Schools Project – Online Guide and Resource for Educators

Learn how you can facilitate student-led schoolyard action projects, fulfill Maryland Green School requirements and lower your school’s environmental impact all in one program. This free program is available for elementary, middle, and high schools.
