The OSSE School Garden Seasonal Training Series is designed to provide hands-on learning of seasonal-specific technical skills that school garden staff and volunteers can apply immediately to improve the effectiveness of their program.
The next training: “Strategies to Increase Community Participation” will take place on Wed, Jul 31, 2013 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM. Community participation is vital to the success of any school garden program, and according to recent data collected through OSSE it’s an area of improvement for many garden programs. In partnership with DC Schoolyard Greening (DCSG) this web-based training will focus on building support within your school and attracting the broader community to your school gardening efforts. Participants will explore examples of garden programs with vibrant community participation, and will use an existing template to create an on-line “Project Page” on the DC Schoolyard Greening website which will serve as a useful tool for sharing your program with the community.
