Private Events

A magical retreat from the bustle of the city, just a few miles south of Washington DC. Experience your special day at our 330-acre historic farm, nestled in the forests and wetlands of Piscataway Park.

Our historic 1930’s Ferguson farmhouse and surrounding gardens, which embody design trends and lifestyle from the Country Place Era (1890-1940). The house and gardens perch on a hilltop with views to the Potomac River across to Mount Vernon and up river to Washington, DC. Alice L.L. Ferguson designed the gardens to using arbors of rose, grape, and wisteria, with surrounding boxwoods for a touch of the formal. A spacious lawn is flanked by pathways with colorful perennials, magnolia, and dogwood.

  • Rooms furnished with historic items from the Ferguson collection create a warm and inviting private space for event hosts.
  • A one-room outbuilding adjacent to the garden and the farmhouse was used by Henry Ferguson, an acclaimed geologist. This makes another perfect and peaceful staging location option for the event hosts.
  • A state-of-the-art “Living” building conference center provides the perfect space for an indoor wedding reception or rehearsal dinner.
  • The rolling hills, sweeping forests and shoreline boardwalk provide breathtaking, scenic locations for photography.

Corporate Retreats

Make this year’s corporate event one to remember. We specialize in green, low-impact meetings and events, located on our environmental campus nestled in the forests and wetlands of Accokeek Park, on the shore of the Potomac River. Bring your green meeting or event to our historic farmhouse (a National Historic Landmark) and renovated barn, or to the only Platinum LEED certified building in Maryland to use solar and geothermal power. Experience net-zero impact in our state-of-the-art green conference center—the 13th constructed “Living” building in the world—or enjoy gorgeous view of Mount Vernon and the dome of Washington’s Capitol from our historic farmhouse.

Whether your team is 10 or 100, we provide the space, as well as optional team building and educational activities. Contact us at [email protected] to learn more about our day and overnight options.

Volunteer Days of Service

We offer half-day and full-day service opportunities for groups of 50 to 150 volunteers, which include team-building exercises, optional educational activities, and hands on volunteering. Volunteer activities range from helping out in the barnyard and educational gardens, clearing student trails, preserving historical documents in our 1930’s farmhouse, and more.

Holiday Parties & Events
